IFMSA-Québec is the international and community branch of the Quebec Federation of medical students (FMEQ), and represents students to the IFMSA. IFMSA-Quebec gathers 4.100 medical students from all 4 medical faculties of Québec around global health, human rights and peace, sexual and reproductive health, medical education, and public health issues as well as professional, research, and immersion exchanges. Active on the six campuses of the province, IFMSA-Quebec offers multiples training opportunities, runs more than 140 international exchanges per year, coordinates seven peer education projects in Quebec schools, advocates on health issues that matter to today’s society, and works in collaboration with external partners, always in the objective of forming young doctors for whom the profession is more than a title.
IFMSA-Québec hosted the IFMSA August Meeting General Assembly in 2010. It marked the first international success for the organisation, since it was founded in 2004. Over 800 students from all around the world gathered for the week around the main theme, “health in the city”. The economic benefits for the city of Montreal were estimated to be over $1.2 million.
